how to weld aluminum to steel?
I am a mechanic and am working on a platform trailer with aluminum rails and crossbars of steel that is a square piece of action unknown type of metal is welded to both steel and aluminum just wondering if there is one type of metal that connects to both surfaces or the way it was achieved
Conventional weld can not weld aluminum with steel – (TIG, MIG, SMAW, oxygen / acetylene, plasma, etc). Weld Conventional yes – (inertia, friction, explosion, Friction Stir, and so on, EB maybe?). My opinion of steel and is screwed into a place that can not see or is all aluminum. Put a magnet on it to see what is what is steel and aluminum. Source (s): 33 years of welding.
