They live in North Texas and need some ideas for landscaping around the pool?
I have a long bed of flowers along the narrow wall bottom (south wall) of my house is completely empty. This bed is the long hours of sunshine in Texas is next to my pool deck, so plants should not be a little uncomfortable, fall from a great number of petals, leaves and have no sharp or pointed leaves, thorns, etc. I would like ideas for plants tropical colors that would be good to plant here. The bed is only a couple of feet wide, so the plants do not grow too large would be great. I was thinking of a small palm tree (if such a thing), hibiscus, but would also like to plant some perennials. Dianthus are really the only perennials that have always done well here. There is a sprinkler system and put bark mulch in the bed. I have a couple of large pots to be placed on the deck pool and would like ideas for colorful plants to go in them, but they must be tolerant, because the project of potted plants dry out very quickly here.

They should be able to recommend or in the right direction if you tell them what you said earlier.
