What size I need for my LP tank pool heater?
I just bought a 130,000 BTU heater for my swimming pool that is 12,000 liters and has a surface area of 452 meters. I will use a 120 gallon tank, but the man told me that LP gas would burn until the initial heating and then would have to be replaced. Does that sound right? That seems to be using a lot of gas. Can anyone tell me the amount of gas that could be used in a season or the amount of gas is used in a month? I will be using a solar cover and I'm looing for an increase only up 5 degrees to 6 tempeture water. Thanks for your help!
It sounds to me like a 120gal. tank would be adequate depending on how much you use the heater. I figure: "A Btu (British Thermal Unit) is the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one pound of water one degree Fahrenheit. "1 gallon = 8.32 # (12 000 99 840 gal = 8.32 .* # water) 1 gal propane = 91,000 Btu. 120 gal. tank = 10,920,000 Btu. the value of propane. 10920000 / 130000 (Btu / hr.) = 84 hours of water consumption in the pool # 99,840 / 130,000 = 0.76hr / F * 84hrs. recording time / 0.76hr / F *= 110 * F thermal capacity total. As shown, most likely burn at least 1 / 4 to 1 / 2 bottle of initial warming.
